There are just two weeks left until fabulous July 4th fireworks, food, and fun! If you haven’t yet made plans, or just want to see what kind of events are happening in the Charlotte area, here’s a quick guide to local 4th of July festivities.

Watch Fireworks Light Up the Sky

Charlotte is home to some of the best fireworks displays in North Carolina, so when it comes to picking a spot, there are plenty of choices! Here are some of the best places to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July:

  • BB&T Ballpark (and nearby Romare Bearden Park)
  • Carowinds amusement park
  • US National Whitewater Center
  • Waxhaw Parkway across from CVS and Summerfield Auto

Enjoy All Kinds of Kids’ Activities

Those popular firework-watching spots also have fun Independence Day celebrations going on, too! There you’ll find fun activities for all ages, not to mention delicious food and patriotic fun. Stop by these popular destinations before you watch the fireworks.

SkyShow Charlotte features a block party in front of BB&T Ballpark, where kids (and kids at heart!) can play on inflatable bounce castles, enjoy ballpark food and food trucks, and dance the afternoon away to live music.

During Carowinds Military Days (July 3rd-5th, 2017), military service members with a valid ID enjoy free admission to Carowinds theme park, where there are fun games, rides, and attractions for all ages.

For a taste of old-fashioned 4th of July, venture to Downtown Waxhaw’s Independence Day festivities, where you’ll find a patriotic parade through the heart of town, beach party essentials like a water slide and obstacle course, and a pool filled with foam.

Eager to enjoy watermelon-eating contests, games, and live music? Head to Downtown Indian Trail’s July 4th Celebration! The parade begins at 11:30, and fun activities begin shortly after.

Craving an Independence Day celebration that’s a little bit different? When you live in Charlotte, you don’t have to travel far! During the US National Whitewater Center’s Fourth of July Celebration (July 3rd-4th), you can welcome the morning with yoga, compete with your friends in a cornhole tournament, paddle-race your way to victory during the Battle Royale SUP Sprint, and challenge your climbing skills during the Aqua Rock Deep Water Solo competitions.
