Falling Leaves: 4 Things to Do This Fall in Charlotte

It’s official: the season of pumpkin spice is upon us! Who else is excited for fall? This is one of my favorite seasons. The leaves are changing, the temperature is dipping, and the holidays are closer than ever!

To get you ready for the fall season, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite things to do in Charlotte during the fall. From epic fall festivals to good old apple-picking, there are a million ways to celebrate every season in Queen City.

Without further ado, here are four fun ways to celebrate Fall in Charlotte!

Scarowinds

It wouldn’t be fall in Charlotte without at least one trip to spooky Scarowinds! Every October, this popular NC theme park transforms into a “scream park” for Halloween. Prepare to be scared by over 500 monsters, ghosts, and goblins roaming the grounds and 16 haunted attractions.

Annual Carolina Balloonfest

Hot air balloons.Did you know nearby Statesville is home to the country’s second-oldest balloon festival? This year, on October 19-21, grab your cameras and your buddies and prepare to gasp in delight as gorgeous colors fill the sky!

You can even book a ride on one of these fantastic balloons.

GUTS Pumpkin Carving Contest

Originally a company’s way to celebrate Halloween, GUTS is now a large-scale pumpkin carving extravaganza featuring an insanely talented array of local carvers!

Held at BB&T Ballpark, prepare too see tons of amazingly carved pumpkins showcasing all sorts of creative designs. Best of all, this wonderful event raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. At the event, you’re able to purchase carved pumpkins, as well as tasty treats and beverages.

Apple Picking at Windy Hill

Apple orchard.Under an hour away from Charlotte is the wildly popular Windy Hill Orchard and Cider Mill. They host an annual apple harvest festival, which is on October 20th of this year.

Family-owned and operated, this is the perfect place to visit to get into the fall spirit. Sip on delicious ciders and donuts before traveling through the orchard to pick juicy, delicious apples. What could be better?
