If you’re not sure where to start your Charlotte home search, you might want to take a drive to the suburbs. Belmont is a charming town just a few miles west of the Queen City, and it has so much to offer residents from all different walks of life. Ready to embrace your own slice of Southern charm? Here are some of my favorite things about life in Belmont.
Looking to get more bang for your buck? Buyers are flocking to Belmont for the area’s affordable home prices, and it’s easy to get more space for less. The average home price in this suburb is just $214,300—that’s 87% lower than similar properties in Charlotte.
Don’t worry, though—just because you’re making a move to the suburbs doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on quality. Belmont is home to a plethora of 5-star communities, which offer both new and existing homes. However, if you’re thinking about making a move, now is the right time to buy. Homes in the area are expected to rise almost 6% each year, so you’ll gain plenty of easy equity.
Whenever you work up an appetite, you won’t have to go far from home to sample some of the area’s top bites. Believe it or not, this small town is home to some pretty famous faces, too. Residents always flock to Nellie’s Southern Kitchen, which features a rooftop bar and unbelievable biscuits. If you’re lucky, you might even run into the Jonas Brothers—their family actually opened the restaurant in honor of their grandmother, a former Belmont native.
The Belmont Cocktail Club is a relatively new staple on Main Street, but it’s captured the hearts of natives and visitors alike. There’s nowhere else in town where you can sample spirits from around the world, and their handcrafted cocktails provoke a sense a total whimsy. Peace n’ Hominy is another downtown favorite, featuring updated takes on Southern barbecue plates.
The Historic Downtown
If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind Main Street steeped in its own unique culture, you’ll fall in love with Downtown Belmont. There’s something special about strolling through the area’s historic downtown, particularly when there’s an event going on. Be sure to check out the town’s calendar to check out the latest activities—chances are, you’ll find tons of fun just nearby.
Wondering what locals love about Downtown Belmont? Here, you’ll find plenty of locally-owned businesses housed in repurposed buildings of the past. Be sure to check out South Main Cycles, which now occupies the old Piedmont and Northern Railway Depot. You also won’t want to miss out on the endless festivities in Stowe Park, the Downtown Oktoberfest, and much more.
